Please use this checklist to compare other group family daycares with ours.
Does your group daycare provider:
- operate out of a first floor and not a basement?
- have 2 children to 1 adult ratios?
- have rooms that are well lit and have good air circulation?
- have room separations to ensure your child receives piece and quiet throughout the day and the ability to separate from another sick child?
- have a separate kitchen?
- have a professional social worker on staff who can pick up developmental delays and psychological difficulties?
- have a professional psychotherapist on staff who can provide empathic care and give your family the guidance needed to raise a child?
- have security cameras?
- have Carbon Monoxide and smoke detectors?
- have three means of egress? Ours does! Very important in case of a fire!
- have a fenced in backyard?
- have appropriate padding in backyard in code with safe fall height ratios?
- require photos on file for all adults picking up children?
- have a license and insurance?
- have CPR, first aid and Health and Safety certifications?
- have MAT (medication administration trained) certifications?
- familiarize you with OCFS(Office of Child and Family Services) regulations?
- sanitize toys daily?
- have professional training in child development?
- have a program designed to promote healthy emotional development created by a clinical social worker?
- offer age appropriate curriculums, toys and material for the children?
- offer a program that encourages creativity and independence?
- offer a program emphasizing health, exercise and nutrition in order to prevent obesity?
- provide Reverse Osmosis water for drinking which filters all impurities?
- personalize your child’s needs?
- use daily routines as opportunities for learning?
- have hardwood floors and not carpeting?
- have multiple cribs, pack n plays and sleep swings?
- have cots and not mats or mattresses for sleep?
